Leo Coldbeck-Shackley

Leo joined Tolis & Co in 2021 and works attentively primarily in the family law team, while providing assistance to the civil litigation team.

After graduating from a Bachelor of Laws from the University of South Australia in 2018, Leo undertook work placements with the Crown Solicitor’s Office and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Leo then obtained employment as an associate at the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal and then as legal associate to the Honourable Justice Strickland of the Family Court of Australia.

His experience at the Tribunal emphasised that legal problems both large and small almost always are significant matters in the lives of the individuals involved and are to be approached with understanding and respect. Whereas his experience in Justice Strickland’s chambers emphasised that legal problems ought to be approached in a considered and analytical manner with a keen eye to detail and with a depth of knowledge of the substantive and procedural principles.

Leo brings both of these important lessons to his practise with Tolis & Co.

In his spare time Leo enjoys indoor and outdoor rock climbing, weightlifting, exploring Adelaide’s many hiking trails and taking a punt on which plants will grow in his garden.
